How to Add Blu-ray clips to Pinnacle Studio 20 Standard/Plus/Ultimate

Although the Pinnacle Studio video editing software suite has been around for quite some time version 20 is the first time I have done a review of it. Pinnacle Studio was one of the first commercially available video editors that appeared at the dawn of the digital video age and is one of the oldest video editing products that is still around today.

Why Pinnacle Studio?

The answer to that question could be summed up in one word, control.
Pinnacle Studio does not pack any different features or capabilities than any of its competition so let’s be clear on that.
What it does offer is an abundance of those features all of which are presented in a way designed to allow the user to exert a level of control almost at the standard of fully professional software.
In fact Pinnacle Studio 20 is as close as you can get to a professional video editor while still staying within a “drag’n’drop” style interface without the complication and hefty price tag.

The recently released Pinnacle Studio 20 features 3 versions: Standard, Plus and Ultimate.

Here we list the input formats of Pinnacle Studio – Import Formats

Video: MVC, AVCHD, DV, HDV, AVI, MPEG-1/-2/-4, DivX, Flash, 3GP (MPEG-4, H.263), WMV, Non-encrypted DVD titles (incl. DVD-VR/+VR), QuickTime (DV, MJPEG, MPEG-4, H.264), DivX Plus MKV

Audio: MP3, MPA, M4A, WAV, AMR, AC3, AAC, Vorbis, WMA

So if you want to import some footages from Blu-ray into Pinnacle Studio 20 Standard, Plus and Ultimate for editing smoothly, first you need to convert Blu-ray to Pinnacle accepted AVI, or other video formats, like MPEG-2, for which you will need a best workable Pinnacle Studio video converter, like Brorsoft Blu-ray Ripper.

Additional Tips:

Although all the 3 versions have claimed support for the drag and drop of HD video editor, however, when comparing with the Ultimate version, both the Standard and Plus version lacks the import support for some HD video such as MXF, XAVC, XAVC S, MXF, HEVC (H.265) recorded by professional but popular camera/camcorders. What's more, only the the more expensive Ultimate version Pinnacle Studio 20 has the import capability for 4K Ultra HD video support.
